10.30am: Seaside Stories: Painting Treasures

Young artists are invited to create their own memento from our local shores using acrylic paint and stencils taking inspiration from the shell paintings on display by artist Christopher Bassi. Children will be introduced to using tonal colours, stencils and negative space, while promoted to think about their own experience collecting treasured mementos from our local beaches.

1.30pm: Beachside Impressions: Painting with Stencils and Tones

9-12yrs

In this creative workshop inspired by Queensland artist Christopher Bassi, young artists will explore the magic of acrylic paint and stencils to design their own special beach memento. They’ll learn how to use tonal colours and experiment with negative space, while thinking about their own beach adventures and the treasures they’ve collected from the shores. Join us for a fun and artistic journey where the beach comes alive.

In this fully interactive workshop, you’ll be learning to draw your own versions of loads of different animals – in fact, you’ll be learning how to turn every animal on the planet into a cool cartoon animal.

In this session, you’ll design and build 1 or 2 unique clay creatures. Bring your imagination and, if you have a specific sea animal in mind, feel free to bring a photo or drawing to guide you.

1.30pm: Sculpt & Shape Bowl and Spoon Fun

Join our “Bowl and Spoon” workshop, where you’ll craft a unique bowl and spoon. Bring your creativity and leave with your own special pieces! This workshop will take you on an inspiring journey to explore texture, shape, and creativity.

Sketching the Real Deal: Life Drawing

An artist-led workshop, facilitated by Zoe Martin, focussing on developing drawing skills in an experimental and fun environment. Students will learn new techniques for drawing, training their eye to draw what they can see in front of them. Taking inspiration from the gallery and surrounding landscape, students can be playful in their expression, and draw together in fun collaborative activities. Work with pastels, paints, pencils, and viewfinders to create a unique and imaginative drawing. This workshop teaches your child the technical skills that they can apply to drawing, while also nurturing their confidence in visual expression.

Develop your drawing skills and get the creative juices flowing these holidays with artist Zoe Awen. Students will learn how to express themselves by training their eyes to see shape, line, and tone in new and fun ways. This workshop is not about creating a finished masterpiece, rather it is about learning to sketch and express ideas and concepts easily, enhancing technical skills for drawing from real life. Materials explored will include pastels, paints, pencils, and view finders. Students will take away new tools to apply to drawing, and build confidence in their ability to express their ideas and artistic visions.

n this fun and creative workshop, young artists aged 6-8 will take inspiration from their favourite places on the Sunshine Coast to create a mixed-media masterpiece! Using acrylic paint and collage, they’ll bring their favourite place to life in their own special way. Along the way, they’ll explore how to play with colours, try out cool abstract techniques, and learn how to add collage elements to their artwork.

1.30pm: Sunshine Scenes

9-12yrs

Taking inspiration from their favourite Sunshine Coast landscapes, young artists will create a mixed media artwork utilising acrylic paint and collage to create their own creative version of their favourite place. Children will be introduced to the principles of colour placement, abstraction and how to incorporate collage into their artwork.
