Gallery Volunteers 2019 (hero)

Gallery Volunteers

Noosa Regional Gallery would not be able to offer the range of exhibitions, public programs and other services it delivers without the assistance of our highly valued volunteers. Our volunteers are an integral part of our team.

Becoming a gallery volunteer can provide wonderful opportunities to contribute to the cultural activities in the Noosa and wider Sunshine Coast region. Volunteers assist gallery staff with the delivery of a diverse program of events and workshops as well as in the gallery shop. There is a supportive collegiate culture amongst our volunteers and friendships are often formed. Volunteers are highly valued by gallery staff as a number of programs and services could not be delivered without their assistance.

Volunteering provides people with the chance to enhance and continue their skills development, interact with people of all ages and interests, and experience art.

Volunteer Roles

Gallery Shop

The Gallery Shop Volunteer fulfils an important role within the Gallery and makes it possible for Gallery staff to continue their daily business duties. Duties include providing information to visitors as the first point of call to the Gallery. Receptionist duties, answering the phone and transferring calls and taking messages. Customer service in the Gallery shop, sales of products, processing sales and general housekeeping to maintain the look and feel of the Gallery whilst on duty.

ArtPlay Sunday

On the third Sunday of each month throughout the year, the Noosa Regional Gallery hosts a free, all ages event called ArtPlay. This event is themed and provides free art and craft activities that link to the Gallery’s exhibition program. Volunteers assist with setting up as well as helping children and families with art activities.

Children’s Workshops

During the School Holidays the Gallery runs art workshops for children aged 6 – 18years. Volunteers assist with the delivery of the art activities, set up and pack down.

Brushing Memories – Art and Dementia Program

The Gallery aims to deliver a specialised art and dementia program in the near future, and we are seeking volunteers to make the program possible. The program aspires to improve the lives of people living with dementia. Volunteers will assist participants with creative activities and facilitate guided discussions relating to the exhibitions displayed in the Gallery. In-house training will be provided for successful applicants.
