Field Notes

The NRG Young Ambassadors program is a new and exciting opportunity for young people with a passion for the arts who live within the Noosa and Sunshine Coast regions.

The program aims to engage young people aged 18 – 30 years with Noosa Regional Gallery (NRG) exhibitions and events. In return, our NRG Young Ambassadors will gain valuable art industry knowledge, professional development, and the opportunity to produce a range of public programs and digital content inspired by our artists and exhibitions.

NRG Young Ambassadors enjoy behind-the-scenes access to NRG whilst networking and collaborating with like-minded people with a shared passion for art. They discover the ideas behind Australian and International contemporary art whilst creating an exciting programme of artist talks, private viewings, and visits to galleries and artists’ studios. The program gives the ambassadors an opportunity to support the Gallery by helping to engage other young people, families, and community members with the Gallery’s exhibitions and events.

Ted Polaroid

Teddy Horton

Teddy is a photographer based in Maroochydore. She grew up in Brisbane before moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2018. Teddy has been involved in the arts for many years, working with Feral Arts on the documentation of festivals, conferences, and art events – nationally and internationally. She has developed a unique style of candid portraiture that captures both the drama and the fun of the events she documents.

Teddy Polaroid

Teddy McRitchie

Teddy McRitchie is a Sunshine Coast-based designer specialising in wearable art, fashion, and costume design. Utilising a mix of traditional materials and techniques, Teddy’s innovative ideas produce unique forms. Described as Avant-Garde and otherworldly; with a strong silhouette and shape, Teddy’s wearable art pieces have been shown on the Sunshine Coast, in Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, and northern Tasmania. Winner of the 2019 Wearable Art Mandurah Youth Award, 2019 Australian Wearable Art Festival Student Award, and the 2021 AATFA Queensland Designer of the Year; since releasing a fashion collection at Brisbane Fashion Festival, Teddy’s pieces have been shown at some of the biggest events in Queensland, and published in several international magazines. These opportunities have led to one of his designs being included on a fashion runway in Bali-Indonesia.

Tess Polaroid

Tess Miller

Tess Miller is an emerging ceramic artist. Creating biomorphic abstract forms from clay, Miller employs gentle hand-building techniques and slow, intuitive movement to shape the clay into its chosen form. Miller investigates the connection between the embodied processes of clay construction as she physically molds and materialises shapes. Transformation occurs through the hands of this emerging artist, creating broods or families of new organic forms forfeited through the alchemy of fire, becoming monuments to the natural world. Interested in transforming movement into shape, natural pigments, and form that hold its own, Miller physically works clay bodies into tactile objects that are both grounded and open. Driven and excited by clay as a medium, Miller works intuitively and slowly to achieve unique, one-off pieces to last a lifetime.
