Living Treasures : Masters of Australian Craft PRUE VENABLES

11 Mar to 24 Apr 2022

Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft Prue Venables is an Australian Design Centre (ADC On Tour) national touring exhibition, presented with assistance from the Australian Government Visions of Australia program.

Presenting an outstanding body of work by one of Australia’s most acclaimed ceramicists; Prue Venables is the ninth artist in the Australian Design Centre series Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft, which celebrates the achievements of Australia’s most iconic crafts practitioners.

The work of Prue Venables shows a true mastery of materials. She demonstrates a profound understanding of porcelain- the most precious and temperamental of clays, whose fine-grain and opaque qualities are expressed in rigorous works of refined detail. Venables’ handmade functional artworks possess clarity, luminosity and a quiet beauty.

Living Treasures: Masters of Australian Craft Prue Venables is a major Australian Design Centre exhibition, traveling to 13 venues across Australia from 2019 – 2022 as part of ADC On Tour.
