Draw Student Drawing Award 2019

1 November to 1 December 2019

Draw 2019 is a contemporary Drawing Award open to all Year 9 to 12 students living on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie Region. Draw 2020 aims to promote drawing as a fundamental step in arts practice.

Draw 2019 will have FOUR competition categories: Year 9; Year 10; Year 11; Year 12.

A single winner will be announced and awarded per category.

The People’s Choice Award will be awarded to a single winner, selected from any of the four entrance categories.

PRIZES

Year 9 – $500 gift voucher from Oxlades Art Supplies
Year 10 – $500 gift voucher from Oxlades Art Supplies
Year 11 – $500 gift voucher from Oxlades Art Supplies
Year 12 – $500 gift voucher from Oxlades Art Supplies
PEOPLE’S CHOICE Award – $250* cash.

Year 10 – Ali Strydom, Still 2019, graphite, 23.6×16.7cm

Year 11 – Noah Cruziger, Fantastical Dinosaurs From Another World 2019, ink and watercolour on watercolour paper, 29.7x42cm

Year 12 – Eliza Segewick, Bottled Time 2018, pen and ink stippling on paper, 25.5x57cm

Two highly commended works:

Year 12 – Nara Singh (Newman), The Atlas of Beauty; Rajasthan to Voronasi 2019, graphite on watercolour paper (with acrylic, collage and washi tape), 97x67cm

Year 10 – Jasmine Walker, Sophia 2019, graphite, 29.7x42cm

FINALIST JUDGE: LOUISE MARTIN-CHEW

Louise Martin-Chew is a freelance writer of more than 25 years, specialising in art, design and architecture. Her work appears in publications including Art Collector, Art Monthly and Art Guide Australia among others. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland. 

The People’s Choice Award for 2019 goes to . The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive $250.
